AN IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT COVID-19:
While we firmly believe that God is sovereign over everything and there is no need for any unhealthy fear in our lives, with the recent pandemic of the coronavirus surrounding us it is best to assume that it is already here in our beloved community. Therefore, we need to take to heart and put into action the practical advice of the Center for Disease Control, World Health Organization, State, and also the Local health care entities to the best of our abilities, for the benefit of all, to help stop the spread of COVID-19. It is out of obedience to Christ and love for our neighbor as ourselves that make taking these precautions necessary.
1. We need to cancel ALL in person services and groups until further notice.
With the canceling of schools, theaters, sporting events, regular events, concerts, etc., it only makes sense for us to follow suit and be part of the solution rather than possibly adding to the problem. I hope that individually we can make wise decisions these upcoming weeks to stay safe and healthy. Let us also have compassion and consider ways we can tangibly love our neighbors.
2. The return to worship gatherings will be considered on a week to week basis as developments on this pandemic continue.
While I have no idea what tomorrow will bring, I do know “not to be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” (Matthew 6:34) I pray we can enjoy this time with our families as we consider our life priorities and what is really important to us.
3. We will hold a modified online service Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. on the Gospel Life Facebook page.
As long as we are going to be at home, let’s make the most of it! Do not fear though, I have no intention of singing!
4. Small groups are still happening, just via the internet.
If there ever was an opportunity from all of this, this is it. I also plan on streaming and sharing online much more frequently during the current situation.
5. When we are able to meet face to face again, the way we handle communion will be different for a while.
As an added safety measure each communion attendee will receive two individual cups with the body and blood in them respectively. Our servers will wear gloves during preparation and serving.
6. We will add provisions of Clorox wipes and hand sanitizer to use in the building.
Additional safety measures are always welcomed and appreciated by all.
7. Our potluck and game night for March 20th is canceled.
Naturally given the current state of affairs, any extracurricular activities must be put on hold. Let’s pray that in April we can proceed forward with this exciting event!
As much as we do not want to cancel our precious time together, we also do not want to be irresponsible and jeopardize the health and well-being of those we love and come in contact with. This is avery interesting time for us as human beings and I hope we follow these precautions out of love for God and love for our neighbor. Regardless of my own outcome, I am confident that this pandemic will pass, just the same as other illnesses have passed throughout history. Do you personally know Him who doesn’t pass though?
The Word of God Stands Forever
6 A voice says, “Cry!”
And I said, “Whatshall I cry?”
All flesh is grass, and all its beauty is like the flower of the field.
7 The grass withers, the flower fades
when the breath of the Lord blows on it;
surely the people are grass.
8 The grass withers, the flower fades,
but the word of our God will stand forever.
